John Burnett
John created Digital Privacy Sessions in response to the ever growing push to invade privacy and surveil populations by governments and corporations around the world. He also saw a lack of solutions geared toward educating the non-technical user, and those new to the concept of digital privacy.
John is an entrepreneur in the fields of hospitality, food and beverage, real estate development, and technology. With a love for freedom and free markets, John has always endeavored to create value for customers and gain a competitive advantage through a “proof of work” approach, building creative and dedicated teams in any given project.
He is continuing to promote digital privacy education for the masses, along with other endeavors to promote self-sovereignty and human freedom.
Digital Privacy Mindset
Many believe finding technical solutions and learning how to use them is the biggest hurdle to becoming digitally private. This is not the case. The biggest barrier to becoming digitally private is a mental one:
- Understand the importance of digital privacy and the effect it has on your freedom in the physical world.
- Be willing to sacrifice some convenience in exchange for security, privacy, and freedom. Do so in a consistent manner.
- Understand that lawmakers and laws will not protect your privacy, cryptography will. Opt out of the surveillance state using privacy tools and freedom tech.
- Take ultimate self responsibility. Do not blindly trust any given solution. Continue to research solutions which best fit your needs. The digital privacy and security landscape is ever changing.
- Promote digital privacy and do not cater to the convenience of others. Have them respect your standards for digital privacy.
- Assume anything which is not encrypted will be intercepted, cataloged, and saved forever as a permanent record.
